AmyloShield® is a foliar biofungicide specially formulated to prevent many fungal and bacterial foliar diseases in greenhouse and outdoor production of horticultural crops such as ornamentals, fruits, vegetables, herbs, and turfgrass. It contains live spores of naturally occurring Bacillus amyloliquifaciens strain PTA-4838 and three families of cyclic lipopeptides (CLPs) to boost the plant’s defense system, compete against pathogens, and attack pathogens.
How it Works:
AmyloShield is made up of wettable granules. This foliar biofungicide contains both live spores of Bacillus amyloliquifaciens strain PTA-4838 and CLPs. This specific strain of Bacillus produces CLPs from the fengycin, surfactin, and Iturin A families. The diversity of these CLPs provides a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against pathogens through cell membrane disruption. Application of Bacillus to foliage promotes Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR), which primes the plant to defend against pathogens. These multiple modes of action help prevent resistance and provide better protection against pathogens.
AmyloShield Key Features:
- Foliar biofungicide with a wettable granular formulation
- Contains a minimum of 1.65 x 1010 Colony Forming Units (CFUs)/gram
- 2-year ambient temperature shelf stability
- Compatible with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs and traditional fungicides
- Low resistance potential due to multiple modes of action
- Consistent control compared to other spore-based biofungicides
- Easy to use wettable granular with great solubility
- No Pre-Harvest Interval
- Effective against a range of foliar pathogens (>80)
- Applicable to a wide range of horticultural crops
- No residue issues
- Made in the USA
Pathogens Controlled:
AmyloShield provides control of over 80 pathogens, including the fungi that cause powdery mildew, downy mildew, and gray mold, many bacterial diseases, and rusts.
Application Guidelines:
Apply as a preventative foliar spray before disease symptoms or signs are visible. AmyloShield can be applied alone or in conjunction with other registered products as a rotation or in compatible tank mixes. Contact with foliage is essential for efficacy, so use adequate spray volumes to achieve complete coverage.
Usage Tips:
This foliar biofungicide is best used as a preventative treatment. Apply every 3-10 days depending on conditions. If high disease pressure is expected, reduce spray interval and/or use higher-end label rates. The addition of adjuvants to improve contact with foliage is beneficial with this product. Reapplication of the product is recommended if heavy rains follow product application.

AmyloShield applied at 2.5 lb/A allows for longer spray intervals while still providing the same level of protection as other biofungicides (at 20 oz/A), saving money on inputs and labor cost through the season.
Safety and Handling:
Read the label for safety instructions. AmyloShield has a zero-day preharvest interval. Agitate the spray solution well if left for extended lengths of time.
Integration with IPM:
Appropriate for IPM programs and works with conventional fungicides. Its multiple modes of action help prevent resistance.
Product Options:
Available in 5 lb. bags.
